Revelation 21:22-26

22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.

Here we are again in this fantastic chapter of Revelation Revelation 21. We're reading the last few verses. And it really is what it really is wonderful describing God's people being dwelt in by by God, and dwelling with God. So, verse 22, I did not see a temple in the city because the lord, God almighty, and the lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it.

For the glory of God gives it light, and the lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the Earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut? But there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does, what is shameful or deceitful. But only those whose names are written in the lamb's Book of Life. Mhmm. Gosh. It's just so lovely to read these pastures here after this log of most of the rest of revelation.

Yeah. I I mean, so we're talking we're talking about those gates again here. That they're never gonna be closed because there's not gonna be other there's not gonna be any night. So there's no evil here, is there? Because in in this world, you you close your door at night and you look it because people might be trying to get in.

But because there's nothing impure in this world anymore, you don't have to lock your bike up or close your front door or I mean, just think of Oh, you should talk about lock your bike up. Just think of how many keys or passwords or fobs or things that we have to carry around. Yeah. I mean, how many passwords do you have to remember? Yeah.

And all of that is because of sin. Yes. The only reason you need a key is not to start the car, but is to stop people nicking the car or nicking coming into your house The only reason you need a password is to stop people interfering in a in a bad way. Yep. All of that's gone.

Yeah. Yeah. So it's such a different world, isn't it? I think it's for that. Yeah.

Yeah. So again, it's it's this sort of image of the temple, but there isn't a temple, because there's no need for before because we are with God and God is with us, and that's and that's the beauty of it. And then this this there's no need for sun or moon. Because the glory of God gives gives it light and the lamb is its lamb. I mean, in other words, you know, it's just the greatness and beauty of of of of him that is shining out -- Yeah.

-- we're seeing things as they really are. Yeah. And just like if you look through the bible, every time that you're in presence of the glory of the Lord. People fall dead on their faces, don't they? Mhmm.

Like Moses wasn't even allowed to see. He was sort of in a rock covered with the hand of God, you can get a better covering than that. And then even then, he's only allowed to see sort of the back behind as he goes past. Yeah. And even then, he goes down the mountain and his face is radiating.

Yeah. So and and God says, you know, dwells in unapproachable light. So this is I mean, this would kill us now if we were there. Yes. We would we wouldn't survive this, but how glorious will it be to sort of stats.

Yes. Because it says that they walk by by this light. Walk by that light. Yeah. So so so there's an uprightness that we have.

In this light. Yeah. It's all because of Christ. It's all because of the lamb. Yeah.

Talkers of his cleansing power, isn't it? You know, And then, I really like this whole idea of the kings of the Earth and and the nations bringing in into this. And there's a lot of there's a lot of people talk about these these verses, and it's going to be something like the Taj Mahal or all the good things that the Earth has got to could give us. I don't get that at all. I don't think it's anything like that.

I think the things that the nations are gonna bring, the glory of the nations is the Christian brothers and sisters. They're the glory, because they're the blood bought people of the lamb of God. Yes. And they're gonna be brought in. So even if there's a king who hates Christians and kills Christians, he's going to be made to bring the glory of his kingdom in, which is the little Christian he despised and killed and destroyed.

Yeah. But they're gonna be brought in. Yeah. So it's it's like the earth gives up the only thing that is really glorious -- Yeah. -- which is the blood bought children of God.

Yeah. So how blind are we? How blind is this world? That dictators would enslave the little images of God himself to build structures that are in comparison like excrement, you know. Yeah.

But actually, the glory, they're so blind. They can't see the glorious in those made in God's image -- Yeah. -- who are his people. And those made in God's image that are cleansed by the blood of the lamb, which we've seen again. So, verse 27, it says nothing impure will ever enter it.

And then you think, well, okay, well, I'm not going there. And and Norway who who have done anything shameful or deceitful. Well, you're not going there. And then you think, well, who can go? But only those whose names are written in the lamb's book of life.

And that just shows you, it's not just writing in a book, it just shows you what he's done for us. Yeah. That he's made impure things pure. Mhmm. That he's big enough, strong enough to turn dead things into life, you know, rotten things into into glorious things.

And that's how big the death and resurrection of Jesus is all about. It's not just some religious symbol and a little bit of nice religion or a nice story about God coming to earth and being nice to us. Yeah. He radically, utterly changes us. So we're born again, all because of him, not because of us.

Yeah. Yeah. Amazing, isn't it? Because, you know, people say, well, Jesus, you know, he's a good moral teacher. I enjoy the things he's teaching me to be a better person now.

And you think, oh, hang on a minute. No. That's I think that's why we have revelation, isn't it? So we can see in greater clarity what his death has achieved for us. Yeah.

And that's what we're gonna see here. So again, this beautiful picture of god dwelling with his people, the people dwelling with God. The great kings are bringing the splendor of God, which is the blood borne children of God. No one's going to be lost because they're written in the Lam's book of life. Yep.

Glory.
