We yearn for justice. So, watch and learn about the perfect Judge who knows everything. Pete and Tom talk about what justice means for all of us in Corona Chronicles episode 58, looking at Revelation 20 verses 11-14.

Revelation 20:11-14

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Welcome back to Corona Chronicles. We're just coming to the end of Revelation 20 now. And we've thought about the thousand years in the reign of Christ and the church and the the doom of Satan in our in our session yesterday. And today, we're gathering together before the great white throne in in verse 11 here. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it.

The earth and the heavens fled from his presence and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead great and small standing before the throne and books were opened. Another book was opened which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them.

And each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Yes.

This is the the audience with the king that none of us are gonna get around. You know, so whether people believe in God or like Jesus or whatever. Yeah. Everybody is called and it's interesting, isn't it whether you whether you're dead, whether you're in the sea, you know, there's there's every every every one's gonna be here at this at this throne of judgement. Yeah.

That's right. I mean, just kind of Just just thinking as you were saying there about this depends where this goes out really, but this Dominic Cummings thing, you know. It's been interesting, isn't it? You know, how he's been you know, at the table in the garden. And the media have been like the books, haven't they?

That's what they thought themselves are. The books, you know, reading out the deed tell us about your deeds. What happened? When did you do this? When did you do this?

And, you know, it's quite a it's quite an ugly scene in that case, but it's something the point of that is it's something that we all long for, isn't it? We long for accountability. You know, we long for wrong things to be punished and right things to be vindicated. You know, even if even if people aren't believers, they still have this sense of someone somewhere at some point has got to bring justice upon the earth. Yes.

It's usually to do with other people. Yeah. Some other people with ourselves. I mean, if you're gonna use that dominant communist you know, all those journalists and photographers are all bunched together with no social distancing whatsoever. Yeah.

Taking photos of of him -- Yeah. -- who is supposed to be the hypocrite who's broken the law and there they are -- Yes. -- breaking the law. So whoever you are -- Yeah. -- is easy to point the finger at -- Yeah.

Yeah. -- think the trouble is, all of us are going to be greater, small, yeah, hypocrites, whoever we are -- Yeah. -- we're going to be brought before this great -- Yeah. Great. -- follow.

And judged by a perfectly just 1. Absolutely. The trouble is with the media, lay it thick on dominant comments. It may well come out that they themselves have been doing stuff, you know. Exactly.

So Yeah. And they have. We need a perfect judge and a perfect judgment, don't we? Yes. And and and and here and here is God doing doing that.

And I mean, what is interest so great and small, you know, whoever whoever you are. But but what is interesting is these these books. Yes. So you you seem to have a load of books, and then you seem to have a book. Yes.

And there's a load of books with all of the deeds of people in. Yeah. And they're at, you know, the works, the things we've done and not done. Mhmm. And then there's a book with names in it.

Mhmm. Isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.

I think it's just it's just wonderful, isn't it there? 15. Anyone who's name was not found written in the book of life. And so here, you know, here we've got We've seen this before, haven't we in the early in the letters, I think, particularly to the churches, you know, anyone who overcomes, I will give a new name. You know, I will write their name on a white stone or whatever it is exactly.

But that and that's a very personal term, isn't it? You know, God makes a big deal of this in bible when he changes people's names. He says, I'm gonna you work all this. I'm gonna call you this now, you know. And it is a sense of belonging to him in a relational way, isn't it?

And I think that is what it's gonna be like for the redeemed. You know, we won't be standing before this throne. Thinking that our souls are hanging in the balance, you know, thinking it could go this way or that way or, you know, crumbs. Maybe he isn't the father I'd read about, you know. Maybe you know, there will be a sense of this is our this is our lover who died for us.

Those are the wounds that I trusted. He knows my name. He's written my name. And you know, I'm on his side. Yeah.

So Because God knows all of all of the deeds of things. He says the dead were judged according to what they had done. Recorded in the books. So God knows everything. Yep.

And God knows all our deeds. Mhmm. And he knows of the hypocrisy -- Yeah. -- pointing out of other people's faults and us carrying on doing the same faults. The the times we've turned away from doing good that we share and the things that we shouldn't have done that we have done.

I mean, we're all in 1 sense, we're all in the same boat. Yeah. There are reams of of breakings of God's laws of unlovingness because we're called to love of self centeredness. There are reams of that. On there that are are against us.

Mhmm. But the point is, it's not that Christians haven't done those things. It's that Christians have gone to the savior who's done the good work for them. Yeah. And and and because Christians have said, you take my it.

Mhmm. You take my book of deeds -- Mhmm. -- which are not good. Yeah. And nail it to the cross.

Yeah. Deal with it, judge it. Yeah. We've already been judged our names and in the book of life. Yeah.

Absolutely. And so I think although there is definitely some kind of accountability for for us all. You know, the the the wonderful news of the gospel is therefore there is no no condemnation for those who Christ. You know, so that's what makes the good news good is that we can fall asleep in the lords knowing that there is no condemnation. As far as the east is from the west.

So far if I separated your transgressions from you, you know. So they they fundamentally. As far as is geographically conceivable, they have been removed from us. So we don't approach this and they've been bought back from the east and the west, you know, to to be our identity again. We are in Christ now, dead to sin alive and him.

Since and transgressions gone. And yet we're still before the holy the holy judge, don't we? You know? Yes. Yeah.

So so so so so Christ's death for us is not an an unjust thing. Yeah. And and Paul works that through in the book of Romans in the in the new testament part of the bible. That that this is God's Justice. So sin has to be paid for and it's either paid for within me or Christ on my behalf.

And and I've chosen Christ on my behalf -- Yeah. -- we're very pleased about it. Yeah. Because because it's not that I am or you are or any is better than anybody else. No.

It's that Jesus is better than anybody else. Absolutely. I wanna be in. Yeah. Yeah.

Definitely. But I guess the thing we've got to warn people listening here you know, that we are going to stand before you are going to stand before your judge. Yeah. And we just don't hear this message anymore. We just think I'll have a word to say to him.

You know, we dealt with this before. We we think, well, I'm not as bad as Hitler. You know, we love Hitler, don't they? Particularly in this country, because he's so bad. Yeah.

I look quite good. Yeah. You know, and we love those sort of those nazis and those horrors. So it makes me look quite good, but I'm not going to be compared to him. No.

No. I'm compared to the glorious, beautiful, obedient, loving son of God Jesus. Yeah. Absolutely. And I'm I'm I'm I'm a failure.

Yeah. And you're right, you know, we we do need to, you know, if you're listening in, we do need to we needed to get ready for this day because this day of accountability is coming. And you know there is a lake of fire. And again, whether that's a literal lake of fire or not, the point is it's it's an excruciating judgment, isn't it away away from the lord? And, you know, so we might wanna dismiss this.

It's medieval and silly, but actually no. This this judgment is real. And on this day, verse 14, death and hades are gonna be thrown into the lake of fire. So it's not just people with death and hades and it's the you know, when when this day comes, it is where o death is your victory, where o death is your sting. Death itself is actually thrown at you.

It's it's killed. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

And that's why it's in the next protocol is you've gotta come back because -- Yes. -- we're we're we're then in the new creation where there is no death.
