Here we are again in Revelation chapter 19. We've seen 3 hammer new years, and we're gonna go through to the fourth. This is an amazingly beautiful passage, and I hope it encourages you today wherever you are. Verse 5, then a voice came from the throne saying, praise our God, all you His servants. You who fear him, both great and small.
Then I heard the sound of a great multitude like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peels of thunder shouting hallelujah. For our lord God almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory. For the wedding of the lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready fine linen, bright and clean. Was given her to wear.
Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God's holy people. Then the angel said to me, write this blessed to those who were invited to the wedding supper of the land, and he added these are the true words of God. At this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, Don't do that. I'm a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God for it is the spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus. Such a joy to be in these passages now, isn't it? It is. After such a sort of a a slog, it fell a little bit going through sort of the judgement and and things. But as as we've seen, this is a celebration because of the judgments.
Because you get salvation and judgments sort of going together. And I love that I love that this message is this this picture, we've now got to the wedding. We've got to the moment when the bride is standing and and it's about to sort of enter the church in a sense. And this picture is so glorious that John falls at the feet of the 1 who was telling it him. Yeah.
And what he is so overcome with joy and with worship that he just turns to the nearest thing and starts worshiping it. Yeah. Sort of overcome with this. Yeah. It's such and then you found in this name.
Then it gets told off. Don't worship me. I worship God instead. Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, it it reminds me of CS Lewis. He he was he was talking about Christians and saying even the most ordinary plain or rather dull Christian. Yeah. In the new creation is going to be so made new by God and that all their potential is gonna come out. That that dull 1, when you see him or her there, you'll be tempted to worship.
Yeah. So this is, as you say, extraordinary message. It's so wonderful. We're at the wedding feast of the lamb. This is this is what God is his his plan is that he's been working to.
That we're almost doing ridiculous things. Yeah. Yeah. And it's, you know, it's interesting. Now the people that I heard in verse 6, then I heard what sounded like a great multitude by the roar of rushing waters and like loud peels of thunder.
Normally, the the peels of thunder have been coming from God, but the the people of God are so enamored and taken up with this moment that they're starting to sound like him in in this in this book and they they hallelujahing again. And yet and now the wedding of the lamb has come and the bride being that the church has made herself ready. But these sort of clean garments that she's given to wear, this fine linen that's it was said it said here that she's given it. So this is a picture of the sort of righteousness that we don't have by ourselves, but that it's given to us. Yeah.
And Christ clothes us. Ready for this day. And I think it is a beautiful thing because we've got Hallelujah for the Lord God Almighty reign. So now this is his kingdom. This is the good kingdom that's that's come in.
But you could sort of you could sort of say, well, the lord of God almighty reigns, we're gonna cower under him. Mhmm. I mean, there is fear obviously. But there's a sort of right and proper fear of God. Yeah.
But it's not just cowering under the Lord God and Mighty. He's gonna reign with his he's gonna beat us down and we have to follow him. There is rejoicing because how the Lord God reigns is a wedding supper of the lamb. Yes. Yeah.
You know, that's how he loves to rain. He's serving us -- Yeah. -- at this at at this supper. And you're blessed it says in verse 9. Bless it to those who are invited.
So, you know, this is this is this is the place that you want to be. There's no greater pinnacle than this and all those things that we saw in that Babylon will never hear again. The music of harpists, the, you know, the food, the light, all of that, and the voice of the bridegroom. It's kind of, here's the opposite of that. Yeah.
Here's all of those good things happening here at once. Yeah. Yeah. In the presence of God. Yes.
In hell, you don't get that. No. In heaven, you do get that. Yeah. Yeah.
Absolutely. And so as you say, there's this this this invitation in a sense to us now because we're reading what the future is gonna have happen. Mhmm. The verse 9, it says, then the angels said to me, write this. So he's writing a blessed of those who are invited to the wedding supper of the lamb.
And at the end of revelation, it it talks about, you know, come. Yes. Come to come to the 1. Mhmm. Those who are thirsty.
And and this is the great invitation that we can say to people, isn't it? While we're here, you know, come to the wedding supper of the lamb. Make sure your your name is in the lamb's book of life because because to miss this, is to miss what your life is for, what you were created for, and what God's plan is. It's it's Yeah. And these words are true.
They're they're true. Yeah. We're quite amazing that this the angels says I'm a fairly servant with you and your brothers and sisters, hold to the testimony of Jesus. I mean, that gives us kind of dignity as Christians sort of in this world, isn't it? We have the same mission as the angels in a sense to to to extend this invitation -- Yeah.
-- this message -- Yeah. -- to to people. And why wouldn't you wanna be here? Everything that you see in the world that you that you love, that is good, is only a shadow or a reflection of what true of the of the reality there. Yeah.
Designers will be fully satisfied here. So, yeah, to come. Come to the wedding and the way you do that is trust in the lord Jesus Christ.
