Corona Chronicles (Ep.18) - Will You Listen?

Various speakers, Revelation 8:6-13, 9 April 2020

Ben and Pete discuss God's warnings and what they are intended to tell us, in Corona Chronicles episode 18.

Revelation 8:6-13

Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.

The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

12 The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.

13 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!”

Hi. Welcome back to Coronor chronicles. We're in chapter 8. We saw last time that there were the 7 angels waiting to be given 7 trumpets to blow them. We saw that there was a silence to hold it and prayers of God's people and and now we're going to see the 7 angels blow the trumpets.

So we're starting at verse 6 of Revelation 8. Then the 7 angels who had the 7 trumpets prepared to sound them. The first angel sounded his trumpet and they came hail and fire mixed with blood. And it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burnt up.

A third of the trees were burnt up. And all the green grass was burnt up. The second angel sounded this trumpet and something like huge mountain. All ablaze was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea was turned into blood and a third of the living creatures.

In the sea died and a third of the ships were destroyed. The third angel sounded his trumpet and a great star blazing like a torch fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. The fourth angel sounded his trumpet and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars.

So that a third of them turned dark, a third of the day was without light and also a third of the night. As I watched I heard an eagle that was flying in mid air, call out in a loud voice whoa, whoa, whoa, to the inhabitants of the earth because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other 3 angels. Mhmm. Yeah. I mean, it seems like everything's ramping up a little bit here, doesn't and we were chatting last time about waves coming in to sort of knock down at a sand castle and every wave comes up a little bit closer and closer, and you you know eventually it's gonna gonna cover the castle.

And in the same way, Here we're seeing these sort of waves of judgment getting closer, which are trying to tell us that something's coming. There's there's something on its way. So And and here we see this eagle or this vulture or this bird of prey that's circling. And vultures will will circle when when they see, you know, dead meat. So they recognize what's happening.

And so we're we're told as well. We need to recognize the signs. Look what's happening here. This is leading to something. Yeah.

Jesus tells us to read the signs, didn't they? Mhmm. He gives other illustrations. But when you see vultures or eagles above, You know there's something dead. So, you know, read the signs what is going on.

Yeah. I think we've got to take this. This isn't this isn't this is imagery. And it's it's not exact, you know. So, you know, a third of all the trees are not going to be sort of destroyed, but it's a picture of destruction.

We had a quarter in the last series of 7, and now it's a third, and as you say it's getting it's getting stronger and we're we're to be listening to this. You know, so even though this is quite scary stuff, we're we're not the trouble is, I think we people are trying to make heaven on earth all the time, aren't we? We we we try to, you know, even save the planet as if we can save it. Yeah. And and we're trying to, you know, make a pleasant place.

But God is saying hey look everything's gone wrong. There's a curse on this world. It's it's and it's the kiss of death and the sea and the land and the heavens you know, the stars. There's something of death in everything. Yeah.

So whoa, whoa, whoa, will you listen? Yeah. Yeah. And it it feels like you're right. It's trying to tick everything off the list.

It's the land, tick, the sea, tick makes me think of Jonah, actually, who thought he could run away from God by running off land onto water, but even God was there. Everything here is is as under God's sort of judgment in a sense, not just the earth like you say, but even the rivers, the trees, the sun, everything. Yeah. Again, it it reminds you if you know the bible of of the exit I mean, even some of the, you know, the things are are very similar aren't they and and and the ones coming up, you know, blood and hail and all of that sort of stuff -- Yeah. -- and darkness.

And and it's showing us that even though there is this world that is not heaven, that God does want to people that are gonna come into a new world. Yeah. And so even though this is scary, the whole plan of God is to get a people that will be saved and that will listen to the warnings. That will be then taken into his promised land and and be able to praise him. So I think we've got to remember that.

So it's reading those times, isn't it? Yeah. That that that we've got we've got to learn. What is God saying so in this whole coronavirus? What is he saying?

You know what is this going on and and we should listen and become God's people. Yeah. And off the back of last time we were looking at the the cries of God's people, the prayers of God's people being incense. I think as these waves are coming in, we're meant to to cry out, aren't we? And we're meant to call out to God and to tell others to call out as well.

Like, you don't call out to the mountains and the rocks call out to someone who can actually save you from this. Yeah. So there we are in this. I hope that your you're turning to God and praying. And even though these waves are painful and destructive, they are meant to show us that we're creatures that need a creator.

So why not turn some of this into prayer right now and ask God to help us and help this nation to hear that they may become followers of him. See you next time.
