Revelation 7:13-17

13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15   “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
16   They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
17   For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Welcome back to Corona Chronicles. This is our daily time in in the book of revelation. We do hope you're enjoying them and they're a blessing to you and your family. And if you do wanna leave a comment, please do do so down below. We're up to halfway through chapter 7.

So we're gonna read from from verse 13 to the end of the chapter. It says, then 1 of the elders asked me, these in white robes, who are they? And where did they come from? I answered sir, you know, and he said these are they who have been who have come out of the great tribulation. They have what their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb.

Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple. And he who sits on the throne will shelter them in with his presence. Never again will they hunger. Never again will they first. The sun will not beat down on them nor any scorching heat for the lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd.

He will lead them to springs of living water and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Great. Yeah. So we've been seeing I mean, just thinking back to chapter 6, you know, when we were thinking about all of those judgments, as the seals were being opened, and there were these 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, these general judgments coming upon the world then there was the particular cry of the martyrs -- Mhmm. -- who died because of their testimony to the word of God.

And then there was the final judgment all of that can rightly be called a great tribulation. Got it. Yeah. There is there is suffering that has come upon the world in all kinds of different forms and upon the church. And yet here we're taken to the moment when the whole of the church again is gathering around the lamb, and these are they who have come out of the great tribulation, and they've now come to the other side.

Mhmm. And you've got this amazing bit here in verse 14. You know, because the question is, okay, here here they are that they're gonna be before the throne of God. They're gonna be serving him day and night. They've made it through the tribulation.

How did they make it through? Well, they just pulled up their boots and -- Yeah. -- got on with it. They were good people. Yeah.

No. They made it through because they were washed in the blood of Christ. That sealed their position. It's a funny it's a funny picture, isn't it? Yeah.

White robes -- Yeah. -- because their their robes have been washed in the blood of the lamb. Light is red. Yeah. It's always a picture, but it's, you know, it's where it's where the salvation comes from.

They were singing you know, we were seeing yesterday. Salvation belongs to our God. Mhmm. These are these are the the people that are standing before the throne and before the lamb. With palm branches, they're singing his praises -- Mhmm.

-- because salvation has come to them through him. Mhmm. And and and his picture of of of the death of Jesus on the cross -- Yeah. -- for for our sins. Yeah.

It's amazing. Absolutely. And, you know, that that does tell us, doesn't it? That once again, you know, these people who make it to heaven, you know, they're not they're not just because they're good people -- Yeah. -- or they're better than their neighbors.

They're sinners. You know, they're sinners. They needed washing by the blood of Christ. That's the only way we make it into the into this throat. Yeah.

And it's interesting, isn't it how people get such a wrong idea of what it would be like to be with Jesus forever? Yeah. And people have got these notions that it would be boring. To live forever, or that heaven is just like being united with the good stuff that you had in this life, but God is absent. Floted on cloud Slow on clouds.

Yeah. Even even more crazy. But here, it's it's like a little window into what life is like for this redeemed. Their tears have been wiped away. Mhmm.

The suffering has come to an end, and they've got this immense privilege of being able to serve him Yeah. Day and night in his temple. Could could a greater honor be bestowed on anyone -- Yeah. -- than to serve the gracious Christ -- Yeah. -- forever and ever.

Well, the I mean the these no word like boring could be used -- No. -- of of of these people that that that, you know, they will never say I'm bored again. That that would be great. I mean, you know, maybe we've got a few families. And they've heard the children.

Mhmm. I don't wanna do any more schooling. I'm bored, you know? Never again. No.

You know, Matt maybe that will be an even a great comfort for a parent to hear. Yeah. But but verse 17, is it another striking picture, isn't it? The lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. Yeah.

Strange, isn't it? Because lambs normally need shepherd. Yeah. That's right. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. But what what I'm and, you know, this is This is the the picture of Jesus that we're getting is, you know, he's powerful. He's he's but he's he's a servant king. He he can be our guide as well as our sacrifice.

Mhmm. And and it's what, you know, it's such a comfort and he will lead us to springs of living water. We're never gonna you know, there's gonna be there's there's never gonna be any unsatisfaction in our lives. Mhmm. When we get when we finally get to to heaven.

I think that's right. And and we've been doing in our evening services, the I am -- Yeah. Yeah. -- Jesus. And the first 1 we did was I am the bread of life.

Yeah. And just as you were reading it, I was reminded of that. Never again will they hunger, never again will they thirst. That's really what Jesus says in John 6. So -- Yeah.

-- not only are we free from suffering in this place, but we we are eternally satisfied forever. In Jesus. And yeah. Go on. Yeah.

Well, just just what I comfort. I mean, you know, that that last verse and and and God will wipe away every tear, you know, we think about the the time we're going for it's strange. It's -- Mhmm. -- it's it's, you know, and we've been inconvenienced. Mhmm.

But but, you know, there are people around the world who who really know what tears Oh. Mhmm. Sometimes I I don't think I really know -- Mhmm. -- that. But, you know, he will wipe away every tip.

Mhmm. What what an amazing comfort this is to those who who who have and are suffering. Mhmm. You know? I think the the more the more you know a tip, you know, the more you know grief, the more you know what tears really really feel like, that the the more precious this this a verse could be for you.

And I I think that's right. And I think even I think even now in this country, you know, the chances are there will be people watching this -- Yeah. -- who who have who have loved lost loved ones. Yeah. Yeah.

Or know someone who has. Right. And it's perfectly right to cry in this life, isn't it? Absolutely. Yeah.

It's part of the tribulation. We aren't to be stoic, stiff upper lip. No. You know, crying is right in a fallen world, but it won't be part of the new world. No.

And that's that is something you can encourage kids with, isn't it? It's not giving them a false vision of this life. No. Right. You know, cry this life crying -- Yeah.

-- next life, no tears. Right. Press the note. Yeah.
