Revelation 4:6-11

and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.

And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight. And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say,

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!”

And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11   “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
  for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”

Well, welcome again to Corona Chronicles a daily devotion in the book of Revelation. We're in chapter 4 and we're gonna read the second part of chapter 4. We're gonna start at verse 6. And read right the way through to the end of verse 11. Also in front of the throne, there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal in the center around the throne were 4 living creatures and they were covered with eyes in front and behind.

The first living creature was like a lion. The second was like an ox. The third had a face like a man. The fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the 4 living creatures had 6 wings, and was covered with eyes all around.

Even under its wings, day and night, they never stop saying Holly. Holy. Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, The 4 the 24 elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and they say you are worthy our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they were created and have there being.

Amen. Is is amazing stuff, isn't it? I mean the thing the thing that jumps out at me right at the start here is this is this kind of circular structure that you've got, you know, you've got in the center around the throne with the 4 living creatures. So what is in the absolute heart is the throne. God is on the throne and around them is a circle and in the center are those 4 living creatures.

And and everything is crying out holy holy holy is the Lord God or Whitey which comes from Isaiah 6. And repeating it 3 times like that, it's just a way of underlining, putting it in bold, making it italics. This is the holy spotless pure God. He is different from us. He is the creator.

He made everything. He deserves all this. That's what we need to know right now, isn't it? Yeah. Like in in a way, you could you could sort of think the world's eyes are on a crown.

Eye, you know, on this little tiny virus, everyone's trying to find a cure to it, you know, sort it out. But, you know, actually, what really is going on if you draw the curtain back is that the eyes of creation are on the 1 who made it. Yeah. So you've got a load of numbers here, aren't you? Yeah.

Yeah. I mean, if you if you want kids, if you want to add up, yeah. I wouldn't want to watch your favorite number. Well, I mean, Well, it isn't 6 6 6. Let's say that.

But it's gotta be 7 or 3 or 24 or a hundred and 44 They're all the numbers that you get in revelation. And you've got the numbers here. You've got 4. So what does 4 stand for? It's the 4 corners of the Earth.

Yeah. The 4 corners of the Earth. Now we know that it isn't square, but people talk about it because they talk about north, south, east, west. It's the 4 corners of the other. In other words, but these 4 creatures -- Yeah.

-- are all of creation. Wild, It's it's wild animals, and working animals, and flying animals, and and us as well. So the whole of creation, as you say, is around the throne of what doing. Yeah. And they've got I mean, they're praising him and they're bound down to him.

And, you know, they're covered in eyes. There's so many eyes here. His eyes is a bit scary. His eyes under their wings, you know, you can imagine drawing that, you know, what that would look like. And the point there is they they see everything, don't they?

And yet despite all that they can see, they are obsessed with just 1 site. Yeah. And that is the lamb on his throat. It is holding I think it's power. Oh, is it is it right now?

That's the thing. Hey. All they see is a throne. Right? You know?

You don't wanna you don't wanna push into the chapter Fresh ahead. Yeah. Yeah. It's alright. But it is hard not to, isn't it?

You know? It's it's it's fantastic. You know, and and verse 9, whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him, sits on the throne, and who lives forever and ever. The 24 elders fall down. You know?

So you've got you haven't just got creation. You've got the church. The people have got old testament, new testament. If all eyes are on him, and we fall down, and we worship him. You know, we work around him.

And we worship him because he is the creator. Yes. Yeah. Now we'll see more. Yeah.

When we come nearer the throne -- Yeah. -- next session. But but we worship him because he is created. We're creatures. Yep.

But that's the amazing thing. Yeah. Because here is a God who didn't need anyone. He's holy, holy, holy, he's in relationship with himself. What's relationship?

Right? Well, he need it. He doesn't need it. Yeah. Because he is father, son and holy spirit.

Yeah. Always in relationship with himself, never alone, not like some supposed gods that have been on their own forever. Yeah. He's not a digital 1. He's a compound 1.

And and yet, He's pulling creation -- Yeah. -- and redeemed people, rainbow people who worship him. To be part of his great kingdom. It's extraordinary. It is.

And again, I think 1 of the things we're seeing here about the law is this this this foreverness of him. You know, so in verse 8, who was and is and is to come. You know, in verse 9, he lives forever and ever in verse 10, he lives forever and ever. You know, that's what we saw in in the first part of the book as well, isn't it? You know, he is who was who is to come is trying to say that the Lord's Almighty reigns forever and ever and ever.

And no matter where you live on earth no matter what part of history you live God is on the throne, ruling. Not for a single second, has any part of this universe been out of his control. He reigns forever. So it's amazing. We would wanna call our nation to do this to lay down their crown and start singing him to him.

Why don't you do this at home? Why not? You know? Yeah. Do it now.

Lay down your crowns before the throne and say, you are worthy. Our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things by your will they were created and have their being. You'll see you tomorrow. If you would sing a song.
