Journey to the city of the King, an adaptation of John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, adapted and told by Pete Woodcock.
Christian lives in the City of Destruction, where most people ignore warnings about coming danger. When Evangelist speaks from a book about a Beautiful City ruled by a great King, Christian listens and becomes deeply troubled by a heavy burden of guilt. Though mocked by family and neighbours, he realises he cannot ignore the truth. Setting out toward the narrow gate, he faces ridicule, pressure to turn back, and the discouraging Misery Marsh, where his companion Putty abandons the journey. With help from another sent by the King, Christian is rescued and continues on. This part introduces the call to follow God, even when it means leaving comfort behind.
